Buckle up, buttercups! "Only a fool breaks the 2 second rule".
Do you have any tricks for checking your following distances?
#36 Check your following distances
Driving from Portalegre back to the airport in Lisbon, we came across these signs, along with arrows marked at regular intervals on the highway. One mark between cars = danger, two marks = safe.
Have you seen this sort of thing in New Zealand? Do you think it would help on certain sections of motorway?
We didn't really get to test it out on Sunday morning, as there were no other cars on the 4 to 6 lane highway. But it seems like a simple way to remind and help drivers to check their following distance.
If driving in the wet, I suppose you'd need to remember to double the distance to 4 marks, and / or slow down anyway.
Buckle up, buttercups! And check your following distances.
